Inspired by Rhea’s experience of illness as a teenager, this staged bedroom explores the tension between creative potential and physical limitation. Long exposure transforms restless energy into dreamlike traces, suggesting an imagination that remains alive even when the body must be still.
A Womb for the Brain, 2026
Caught between everyday necessity and the desire to create, I transformed a wedding dress into a playful refuge; an organic, shifting form that envelops, protects and takes on a life of its own.
Abundance, 2025
Draped in more fabric than I had ever owned, I transformed material abundance into a monument to personal change. With only one eye emerging from the sculptural folds, the image marks my movement beyond survival mode learning to accept space, support and opportunity, and to create without waiting for perfect conditions.
The Invisible Weight, 2026
Inspired by a fact discovered in a childhood encyclopaedia inherited from my dad; that atmospheric pressure could crush us if concentrated at one point. I built an oversized cube to give this invisible force a physical presence. The resulting image transforms an unnoticed everyday phenomenon into something oppressive and impossible to ignore.
The Waiting Room, 2026
After a familiar willow was suddenly cut back, I returned with chairs rescued from a skip and photographed myself as an ambiguous worker. The surreal waiting room reflects on time, purpose and how quickly familiar things can disappear.
The Purpose of Things, 2026
Wearing a brown boiler suit, I carried chairs into a park and used them in ways that resist their intended function. Returning these wooden objects to a landscape of trees, the work questions how purpose is assigned while transforming the mundane into a playful encounter.
