Lighting Unleashed

We are going beyond the basics

Workshop Summary:

In this fifth workshop, you'll discover the creative possibilities of off camera light. Whether your camera has a built-in flash or not, we'll be working with external lights that give you far more control over your lighting. You'll learn how to balance settings on your camera with off camera light, and explore how the angles of light can affect your subject.

Through hands-on practice with your own camera, you'll experiment with lighting different scenarios. You'll see how light can freeze motion even during long exposures—creating stunning effects that combine ambient light with sharp subjects. We'll explore your camera's maximum flash sync speed and what happens when you exceed it. You'll also learn practical techniques like bouncing light off ceilings for softer, more natural-looking event photography, and we'll even try light painting to create artistic effects.

By the end of this session, you'll confidently know how to utilise off-camera light to take control of your lighting in any situation, opening up a whole new world of creative possibilities for your photography.
