Creative Photography Challenges
Workshop Summary:
This final workshop is your opportunity to put everything you've learned into practice in a fun, supportive environment. You'll face photography challenges where you'll be given a reference photo and all the necessary equipment, and your goal is to recreate it using your own camera. This isn't about getting it perfect—it's about problem-solving, experimenting, and learning through doing.
Each challenge is designed to test different skills you've developed over the past five weeks. You'll need to analyze the reference image, figure out what settings were likely used, and then work to recreate it. Stuck on something? Perfect! This is your chance to ask questions in real-time and get immediate feedback. Can't figure out the right aperture? We'll troubleshoot together. Struggling with your flash placement? We'll work through it step by step.
The beauty of this session is that there's no pressure—it's a safe space to make mistakes, ask "silly" questions, and really solidify your understanding. You'll have the instructor and your fellow students to collaborate with, creating a supportive learning environment where everyone helps each other succeed. By working through challenges in real-time with immediate feedback, you'll fill any remaining knowledge gaps and build the confidence to tackle any photographic situation independently.
How It Works:
You'll be presented with reference photos that focus on a different technical element, such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. You’ll analyze the image: What's the composition? What's in focus? How's the lighting? You’ll set up the composition and shoot and compare your results to the reference. Each challenge will provide you with the equipment you need (tripod, flash, props, etc.) If you're stuck, you can ask questions and get hands-on guidance immediately.
We will troubleshoot together until you understand exactly what's happening.
